The limited colour palette chosen by Kerry has enhanced the setting for the original painting. Watery blues and greens sit beneath glazes of silver, white and pale gold. It is the pale golds which offer a reprieve from the harshness of the setting making the image though set in the depths of winter seem somehow more inviting. The use of pure white has been used very sparingly in this picture despite its snowy setting as more often than not the snow reflects back to us what surrounds us in terms of colour.

Coppers and cool browns, flashes of turquoise and a sprinkling of pale yellows and peaches bring us back down to Earth. They help to connect the land to the sky which is essential for the message this painting is conveying to its viewer.
