Not looking for a ‘New’ England – Just The Middle One
This Middle England fine art print is a happy depiction of the village of Market Overton. This high quality giclee print shows the beauty of this quiet corner of Rutland County. Reproduced to the highest of standards and luxurious paper and beautifully mounted in white with a generous border it is all ready to be framed. This beautiful English village painting in the smallest county, is brought to life in Kerry’s unique style.
Following in the tradition of the British Naïve artists, Kerry has applied her own whimsical magic to emphasise the quirky character of the buildings. Indeed as with many of her works here the buildings ARE the characters rather than placing figures themselves into the image. It creates an inviting atmosphere of this quintessential English village. All the buildings are indeed based on real ones that can be found be taking a gentle stroll through this pretty village.
English County Gardens and Landscape
Gardens abundantly filled and seen from the roadside are occasionally opened up to the public where the ‘borrowed landscape’ of the countryside beyond is the perfect setting in which the atmosphere, created in this image, is based. Thatched cottages and butter coloured stone sit next to more modern dwellings; while the village pub The ‘Black Bull’ demands our attention front and centre stage. No two buildings here though are ever rendered the same keeping that sense of the occupants inside being individuals themselves.
Warm tones and hues have been used throughout. They add to the sense that this is somewhere we’d all like to be. The wonkiness of the streets and the jostling for space help convey a message that this place is relaxed, informal and a welcoming one – somewhere you’d like to spend time, take a stroll.
Signed numbered and titled by the artist and completed in archival inks, with care, this Middle England fine art print, will last a lifetime.
