Of course no two days are the same and while its easy to think of sunny days or even stormy ones and early morning mist can often catch the innocent bystander off guard.

We’ve all had those days where we wake up and look out at the day to find an unexpected mist or fog has rolled in. For those who live and play by the coast this is never entirely unexpected. Sea mists are common place as the land and sea temperatures meet and battle it out in the air above. But for the artist they also lend a delightful too-good-to-miss delicious, opportunity to capture something magical and ethereal.

Mysterious and Magical

In Kerry’s quirky story-telling style she has portrayed the image of a harbour shrouded though not completely by one such heavy mist. The cottages and the boats are their but they haven’t been fully revealed at this point indicating that the day has yet to truly begin. The image has a day-dreamy quality to it.

As the mists swirl they can trick us into thinking that they are about to depart, showing us tempting glimpses of buildings and boats sitting along the shore; only to thicken once more when they’re not quite ready to revel all just yet. It is this in between moment that Kerry has portrayed here beautifully. As the sun climbs the rays of the sun can leave us wanting more. It can be captivating and mesmerizing waiting for that final moment when sharp edges finally come into focus. With light glazes of white across this contemporary coastal print we are left to wander what the harbour day will bring once the mist finally departs.
