This fabulous heartwarming artwork of a fishing village, typical of that along the southwest coast of the UK is brought to you by Kerry. A member of her series ‘Harbour Collection II’ this image created on paper, evokes the familiar sights and colours to be found along this stretch of coast any beyond and on this surface, the colours remain vibrantly alive.

In her whimsical style Kerry has created a beautiful rendition of a ‘day at the seaside’. Her carefully chosen colour palette plays on the softer side of the colour spectrum. The results are one of calm serenity. While using primary shades of red, yellow and blue she has muted her tones to give the image a warmth worthy of a mellow summer’s day, just for you.

Turquoise Blue Waters and Bright Blue Skies

Turquoise blue waters are reflected in the billowing soft clouds above. Creams of a dawning sunrise are echoed in the pale yellow sands. Al, of this is cosily tucked away behind the harbour wall.

Houses jostle for space along the quayside. Brightly painted fishing boats are ready or have already headed out to sea; just in time for the day’s catch. The homes and vessels ARE the characters of the piece. They replace the need for figures in the drawing. This is something Kerry likes to leave to the your imagination. In your mind’s eye you could even place yourself into the painting.

She uses her acrylics to great effect. There’s a playfulness in the way she scrapes back into the paint to create reliefs and texture within her works. Its a technique she often employs in her creation of such works.
