Seize This Chance!

‘Seas the Day’ in acrylic on paper is a whimsical coastal artwork which conjures up all the elements you’d expect to find if you spend a day at the seaside. The fishing boats on the water are waiting eagerly for the tide to carry them off shore. Sailing away into the turquoise blue of the bay.

Its deliberately ambiguous as to whether this is sunrise or sunset. Either way there are hints in the sky; The warmth of the suns rays lying just beyond the horizon. Soft foamy clouds and the smallest of ripples of the waves show this is a calm day at sea.

Kerry’s carefully curated colour palette lends itself to giving an air of calm and serenity to the image. She has used blues, reds and yellows but often in their softer more pastel shades, even deeper muted tones that are gentle on the eye, have been added for value and contrast.

A Happy Place to Be

As with many of her paintings it is the buildings and the boats that are the main characters in the piece. There is little need to add figures when a sense of community is created by the way in which the houses snuggle up to each other and the boats find their own spot within the harbours walls.

This colourful coastal town has been created to make us reflect and reminisce about our own experience when we encounter the coast, whether by daily occurrence or by just visiting. You can almost hear the sounds of the gulls crying and the waves lapping, vying for our attention as we take a wander around the place.

And it has been created to make us want to do just that!
