See The Smallest of Places Pack the Biggest Punch

In the smallest county in the UK you can discover some truly amazing places. Near the banks of Rutland Water, close to Rutland’s Hambleton village sits this historic Jacobean house. This area of England’s smallest county also hosts by surface area, the largest reservoir. Being about as far as you can travel in-land in the UK from the coast. This body of water helps quench a thirst for the desire of locals to be by the water.  Surrounding this man-made lake, are many villages hewn from the same stone as that found in the Cotswolds.

This buttermilk stone has been used to create some of the finest examples of Jacobean and Georgian architecture to be found anywhere around the UK. This House on the Lake is just one fabulous example of this. As you round the corner of the Peninsula Walk you can see it slowly start to reveal itself.

Get Away Each Day

As shown in Kerry’s captivating artwork there’s also much to be said for its stunning countryside setting. Owning this little bit of art is a way to escape from busier surroundings.A ‘lake’ surrounded by woodland and fields, it has a perfect chocolate box persona and its hard not be affected by what this gorgeous area has to offer as you ramble along.

With layers of colour and tone Kerry shines a light on the flora to be found in her local area. As with many of here works she takes liberties with the seasons pulling out the best elements from them all create a scene of abundance and colour. In this instance it is the late spring blossom trees which help to frame this idyllic scene.  This is a painting which has undergone several incarnations before finally settling happily on this water’s edge scene.

Colour palette aside, rich though it is, it is also the sense of light which plays a key role in encapsulating the joys of a stroll along this magnificent part of the county indeed, the country. With its reference to the ever changing seasons its becomes all the more poignant that this Rutland Water painting, set not far from Rutland’s Hambleton village, focuses on a beautiful balmy day. A moment in time that can be enjoyed forever.
