Description
Stamford a Stunning Georgian Gem
Stamford Spires takes it inspiration from the beautiful Georgian town of Stamford. This Naïve art print is a celebration of the Lincolnshire town which is also home to Burghley House.
Its an area steeped in history and its strategic position near the Great North Road means this otherwise unassuming market town has seen much over the centuries.
Its notable architecture features heavily in Kerry’s picture. It is testament to these places being important in giving the town its character. Some buildings date back to as early as the 12th century including its many Christian sites. Monasteries, priories and of course the churches with their spires are to be found standing sentry over-looking the town. It’s some of these tallest structures that make up the composition for this artwork.
Taking the Very Very Best
The biggest choices the artist had to make was what to include. Editing is a huge part of the process as anything which features needs to claim its own space within the composition – especially on this scale.
Its not just the buildings though that make this place special it’s the way they are nestled into the undulating landscape and how they sit along the banks of the Welland River.
The advantage of working in a deliberate Naïve style is that things can be moved around. Indeed as with any artist perspective and the many elements that make up the art have to be done with confidence and deliberateness. Kerry is very definite in her choices and it shines across the whole image here.
This Naïve art print produced on heavy weight high grade quality paper is a faithful reproduction of the original. Its mounted on soft white board and is ready to be framed.
