Description

Keep Your Own Corner of Cornwall

In this coastal landscape artwork Kerry has captured a beautiful corner of Cornwall. King Harry’s Quay references  the King Harry Ferry which sets sail across the River Fal from St Mawes to Falmouth. You can see the small Castle which sits atop the hill overlooking the once fishing village of St. Mawes. It was built in the time of King Henry VIII. With so much history here and in the surrounding area its easy to gain a sense of place.

As always, with a style that is often compared to that of Alfred Wallis and L.S. Lowry, Kerry has set about composing a piece that shows off the character of the place. You can notice that each building she paints with the intention of creating its own little character. All set perfectly within the naïve landscape.

Buildings set at jaunty angles go to emphasise the fact that this village has changed and morphed and been added to over the centuries. The character of the place is intrinsically linked to its history both as a strategic defensive point along its south coast but also as a once thriving and industrious fishing village.

An Exclusive piece of REEL Estate?

This stunning area of the Cornish Coastline plays host to some of its most exclusive properties. Little wonder if you’ve ever visited and seen the stunning views and picturesque setting. Even more understandable to guess why then, after several visits, Kerry could no longer resist committing paint to canvas to capture the essence of this pretty village in this coastal landscape artwork.

Kerry’s carefully chosen colour palette is dominated by the blues and whites found in the sea and echoed across the sky. But she also adds a sense of welcome and warmth in her use of pinks and creamy yellows. There are a few splashes  of colour to be found in the flora and also in the under layers and textures of the building which draw the eye and keep the viewer entertained.

Such a beautiful depiction of St Mawes in this coastal landscape artwork is one that shouldn’t be missed!
