Celebrating Our Homes
This delightful and understated mini coastal painting of Port Isaac is offered as part of Kerry’s miniature coastal homes series of works as well as being part of a larger series of works based in Port Isaac and the wider area of Cornwall itself.
As a painter of the coast and in her Naïve style Kerry has created many work both big and small that connect the viewer in a friendly way to this much loved part of the world. Kerry is always fascinated by the way in which people have forged their way into settling along these edges of land that are so at the mercy of the elements. Each building is unique not just in real-life but also in the paintings Kerry creates.
Attention to Details
Even with her miniatures Kerry carefully considers how to portray her subject matter. She endeavours to present a little slice of coastal paradise to the viewer, one which they can take home and keep forever.
In this particular painting she has portrayed the individual houses she observed while visiting the idyllic fishing village of Port Isaac and has chosen to capture the feel of the place by keeping her colours to that of nautical whites and blues. Further setting the homes against a white backdrop means that our focus is solely on the subject in front of us. Just a few drops of greyish brown added to the picture help to bring it to life.
Set within a simple white frame measuring 15cm /6inches square, and with a soft-white mount this gorgeous mini coastal painting of Port Isaac is just waiting to find itself a new home with you, either in its own right or as part of a miniature collection.
